Rhino Water provides a turnkey solution for the construction and installation of dam liners for earth dams, ponds, canals and reservoirs for the containment of water, sludge, fertilisers and waste water. Geotextiles are installed as underlayer to dam liners where soil conditions require protection of the dam liner. Typical applications include farm dams, waste water treatment works, landfill sites and mining applications.
Made-to-fit flotation covers offer reduced evaporation and algae growth. The presence of birdlife is also prevented where required, such as in dams near airports where they pose a threat to aviation.
Installation meets AIGI and SANS requirements, while seaming meets GR Test Method GM19 requirements. All seams are non-destructive seam tested.
High Density Polyethylene (HDPE) Benefits: High tensile strength; impact, tear and puncture resistance; good environmental stress cracking resistance; and highest resistance to chemicals. Best for: Lining landfills, insulating chemical plants, roads, petrol stations and mining applications.
Low Density / Linear Low Density Polyethylene (LDPE/LLDPE) Benefits: Good mechanical properties and more flexible than HDPE. New-generation LLDPEs, with additives such as metallocene, match HDPE in strength while maintaining excellent flexibility. Best for: Applications where a very high chemical resistance is not essential.
Ethylene Vinyl Acetate (EVA) Benefits: highest flexibility of all polyolefin geomembranes and often replaces PVC membranes Best for: lining concrete and irregular-shaped reservoirs. Unsuitable for use in warm climates without covering.
